We have been notified today that the new bin (Basura) solution is to be implemented tonight (Tuesday 16th July 2019). This will involve STV bringing the new bins to La Torre and locating them around the resort, in locations defined by the Town Hall.
The new bins are the same as you can see in local towns and are much larger than the current bins. There will be fewer bin locations as a result.
The new bins will be situated on the roads in parking spaces and on some footpaths. This is to enable the new lorries to be able to access and lift the bins to dispose of the rubbish.
The Town Hall in Torre Pacheco has complete authority concerning the bins and the services provided following the transfer by La Torre to the Town Hall many years ago.
Once the new bins have been installed, work will commence later this month or the removal and filling in of the old underground pits.
We will then look at each location to seek improvements to footpaths and aesthetics.
NB: It is important to note that all waste that is perishable can ONLY be placed into the bins after 8pm in the evening. If anyone is caught by the Police disposing of perishable rubbish/waste before this time, they risk a fine of 150 euros.
